Follow Kate Privacy Policy

The short version

Follow Kate is designed to help people share plans, not broadcast their every move.

We collect information needed to operate the app, let people plan together, protect accounts, provide maps/place information, and communicate about Plans.

We do not currently sell personal information or use personal information for third-party cross-context behavioral advertising.

1. Who we are

Follow Kate is operated by Arreo Co LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company.

2. Information you provide

We may collect account information such as your email, username/handle, display name, profile photo, city, bio, optional profile information, verification/consent records, preferences, and account status.

Plan information may include Plan title, date/time, general location, vibe, cover image, attire guidance, stops, notes, visibility, invitations, RSVP information, collaboration settings, suggestions, and activity.

Social information may include Crew relationships, connection requests, invitations, blocked accounts, Plan participation, and collaboration activity.

We may also store content you upload and information you provide when contacting support or reporting another user.

3. Location and place information

Plans and stops may contain location information intentionally added by users, including cities, neighborhoods, venues, addresses, coordinates associated with selected places, and route information.

This is Plan information, not continuous tracking of your device.

If you choose functionality such as Near me, your device/browser may ask permission to provide your current location. We use it to perform the feature you requested.

We do not require continuous location access merely to maintain a Follow Kate account.

Location permission can be revoked through your browser/device.

The current beta does not broadcast your live location to other users.

If optional live-location sharing is introduced later, we will provide additional notice and controls before enabling it.

4. Google Maps Platform

Follow Kate uses Google Maps Platform for maps, Places, venue search, geocoding, route information, distance calculations, and walking directions.

When Google Maps features are used, Google may receive information associated with the request, including search terms, IP address, or coordinates. Google's handling of that information is governed by Google's privacy terms.

5. Information collected automatically

We and our providers may automatically receive technical information needed to operate and secure Follow Kate, such as IP address, device/browser type, operating system, timestamps, request/error information, session/authentication information, security logs, and push-subscription information when enabled.

Follow Kate does not currently use third-party behavioral advertising.

6. Notifications and communications

If enabled, Follow Kate may communicate through email, push notification, or in-app notification.

Messages may include Plan invitations/changes, RSVP activity, stop suggestions, reminders, account/security communications, and activity related to features you use.

Many preferences can be managed through Follow Kate.

Necessary account, security, legal, or transactional messages may still be sent where appropriate.

7. How we use information

We use information to operate accounts, Plans and Crew; deliver invitations; apply visibility controls; provide maps/routes/place discovery; process collaboration; send notifications; personalize preferences; prevent fraud and abuse; enforce blocking/privacy controls; investigate reports; maintain security; troubleshoot and improve the Service; respond to support; comply with law; and protect users and the Service.

8. How information is shared

Information may be shared with people you choose as part of social features and according to applicable Plan/profile visibility and permissions.

If you choose Public Plan visibility, information associated with that Plan may be available to other users as indicated by the feature.

We use service providers supporting hosting, authentication, databases/storage, maps/place information, email, push notifications, security, and technical operations.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, investigate fraud/security incidents, enforce our Terms, or protect users or the Service.

Information may also transfer in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of the business, subject to applicable law.

9. We do not currently sell personal information

Follow Kate does not currently sell personal information or share personal information for third-party cross-context behavioral advertising.

If our practices change—including if advertising or new monetization technology is introduced—we will update this Privacy Policy and provide legally required choices before implementing those practices.

10. Plan visibility and privacy controls

Depending on available features, Plan visibility may include Invite Only, Crew, Public, or Me Only.

Blocking may restrict another user's ability to view or interact with your account or Plans.

No privacy system is perfect. Information intentionally shared with another person can potentially be copied or shared outside Follow Kate.

11. Data retention

We retain personal information as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain accounts, preserve security/fraud records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain appropriate business records.

When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete or anonymize it.

Backups and technical records may persist for a limited period after deletion.

12. Account deletion and data requests

You may request access, correction, data export, or account deletion by contacting hi@followkate.com from the email associated with your account.

We may verify identity before completing a request.

Deletion may be subject to legal, security, backup, and legitimate retention requirements. Information involving other users may sometimes be retained or transformed so their records continue to function.

13. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide rights to know/access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy of certain information, restrict/object to certain processing, or opt out of certain sales/sharing/targeted advertising.

Follow Kate does not currently sell personal information or use it for third-party targeted advertising.

14. Email choices

Where available, you may adjust notification settings within Follow Kate.

Optional or marketing emails will include unsubscribe methods where required.

Unsubscribing does not necessarily stop account, security, legal, or transactional messages needed to operate the Service.

15. Push notifications

If enabled, your browser/device creates technical subscription information allowing Follow Kate to deliver notifications.

Push notifications may be disabled through Follow Kate where available or through your browser/device settings.

16. Security

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, loss, and disclosure.

No online system can guarantee absolute security.

17. Adults only

Follow Kate is currently intended for people 21 and older.

We do not knowingly offer the current Service to people under 21.

18. International users

Follow Kate is operated from and currently primarily intended for users in the United States.

Users may be able to access the Service from other locations. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations in which service providers operate.

Before broader international expansion, our privacy practices and disclosures may be updated as appropriate.

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Follow Kate changes.

For material changes, we may provide notice and may require renewed consent where appropriate.
