Welcome to Follow Kate

Follow Kate helps people make plans together — where you're going, who's coming, where you're stopping, and what happens next.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Follow Kate, including followkate.com and related features and services (collectively, the "Service").

Follow Kate is operated by Arreo Co LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company ("Follow Kate," "we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account, accessing, or using Follow Kate, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines.

If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

Follow Kate is currently intended only for people 21 years of age or older.

By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 21 and legally able to enter into these Terms.

We may change eligibility requirements as the Service evolves.

2. What Follow Kate does

Follow Kate is a social planning tool.

Depending on available features, Follow Kate may allow you to create and organize Plans; add places and stops; invite people; RSVP or indicate participation; connect through Crew; suggest or collaborate on stops; view walking-route information; search for places and things to do; view venue details; receive plan-related notifications; and use safety shortcuts or links to third-party services.

Features may change, particularly during beta and early-release periods.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity occurring through it.

Provide accurate information and keep your account information reasonably current.

You may not impersonate another person, create an account for someone without permission, share credentials for abusive or fraudulent purposes, or attempt to access another person's account.

4. Plans, Crew, invitations, and visibility

Follow Kate lets users decide how Plans are shared.

Depending on available settings, a Plan may be limited to invited people, shared with Crew, made public, or kept private to its creator.

You are responsible for choosing appropriate visibility settings.

If you invite someone, add them to a Plan, share a Plan link, or otherwise make content available to others, those people may see information made available through that Plan.

Do not include information in a Plan that you do not want its permitted participants to see.

Crew relationships are user-controlled. Users may accept or decline connection requests, remove connections, or block other users.

5. User content

You may submit content including Plan names and descriptions, notes, stops, photos, cover images, profile information, attire guidance, suggestions, reports, and other content you choose to provide.

You retain ownership of content you create.

You grant Follow Kate a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, and otherwise process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service and provide it according to the visibility settings you choose.

You represent that you have the right to upload or share the content you provide.

Do not upload content that infringes another person's intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.

6. Respect other people's privacy

Follow Kate is built around plans, not surveillance.

Do not share another person's current whereabouts without permission; use Follow Kate to stalk, monitor, intimidate, or harass anyone; publish private personal information without authorization; misuse invitation or sharing features to expose someone's activities; or bypass another user's privacy, block, or visibility choices.

Follow Kate does not currently broadcast a user's live location as part of the beta experience.

Some features may allow you to use your device's current location when you specifically request functionality such as Near me. Location access remains subject to your browser/device permissions.

7. Google Maps and place information

Follow Kate uses Google Maps Platform for features such as maps, place search, venue information, geocoding, distance, and routes.

Use of Google Maps features and content through Follow Kate is also subject to Google's applicable Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

Venue information, ratings, hours, walking times, distances, routes, and other place information may come from Google or other third parties.

Follow Kate does not independently guarantee that such information is complete, current, or accurate.

8. Real-world plans and safety

Follow Kate helps organize real-world activities but does not supervise those activities.

You are responsible for your own decisions, transportation, surroundings, personal safety, and compliance with applicable laws.

Use reasonable judgment before meeting people, visiting unfamiliar places, walking between stops, consuming alcohol, driving, relying on venue information, or following a suggested route.

Route and walking information may not account for construction, weather, traffic, accessibility, lighting, closures, unsafe areas, or temporary hazards.

Do not rely on Follow Kate as your sole source of safety information.

9. Follow Kate is not an emergency service

Follow Kate does not monitor users or Plans for emergencies and does not dispatch police, fire, medical personnel, transportation, or other assistance.

Safety shortcuts may initiate a call or open a third-party service. They do not mean Follow Kate has received or is monitoring an emergency request.

If you are in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service directly.

10. Third-party services

Follow Kate may link to or interact with third-party services such as Google Maps, Uber, Lyft, phone calling, messaging, or other providers.

Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

Follow Kate does not control and is not responsible for third-party availability, content, pricing, conduct, or services.

11. Acceptable use

You may not use Follow Kate to harass, threaten, stalk, bully, intimidate, promote hatred or violence against protected groups, impersonate others, commit fraud, send spam, distribute malware, interfere with Follow Kate's security, scrape private user information, circumvent access controls, access another person's private information without authorization, facilitate illegal activity, infringe another person's rights, or encourage conduct creating a serious risk of physical harm.

Our Community Guidelines provide additional detail.

12. Reports, blocking, and enforcement

Users may have tools to block or report users or content.

We may investigate reports and take action we consider appropriate, including removing content, limiting features, suspending accounts, terminating accounts, or preserving/disclosing information when required by law.

We are not required to resolve every interpersonal dispute.

13. Beta and early-release service

Follow Kate may be offered as a beta, test, preview, or early-release product.

During these periods, features may contain errors, information may be incomplete, functionality may change, features may be added or removed, data structures may change, and portions of the Service may become unavailable.

Do not rely on Follow Kate as the sole record of information you cannot afford to lose.

14. Intellectual property

Follow Kate and its original software, design, branding, logos, graphics, and other materials are owned by Arreo Co LLC or its licensors and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

These Terms do not give you ownership of Follow Kate intellectual property.

15. Feedback

If you provide ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback about Follow Kate, you allow us to use that feedback without restriction or compensation.

This does not transfer ownership of content you create within Plans.

16. Account suspension, termination, and deletion

You may stop using Follow Kate at any time.

You may request account deletion by contacting hi@followkate.com from the email associated with your account.

We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms or Community Guidelines, protect users, prevent fraud or abuse, address security issues, comply with law, or protect the Service.

17. Service availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue portions of Follow Kate.

We do not promise that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

18. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FOLLOW KATE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE."

WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND OTHER WARRANTIES THAT MAY OTHERWISE APPLY.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF VENUE INFORMATION, OPERATING HOURS, RATINGS, ROUTES, WALKING TIMES, DISTANCES, LOCATION INFORMATION, USER-SUBMITTED CONTENT, OR THIRD-PARTY INFORMATION.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived.

19. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Arreo Co LLC, Follow Kate, and their affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to use of the Service.

This includes losses arising from real-world activities, transportation, interactions with users, venue conditions, third-party services, lost data, or inability to access Follow Kate.

To the extent liability cannot legally be excluded, our aggregate liability arising from the Service will not exceed $100 or the amount you paid Follow Kate during the previous 12 months, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

20. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Arreo Co LLC and Follow Kate harmless from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your unlawful use of the Service, violation of these Terms, content you submit, or violation of another person's rights.

21. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute not otherwise resolved will be brought in the applicable state or federal courts serving Dorchester County, South Carolina, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Follow Kate changes.

If a change is material, we may provide notice through the Service, email, or another reasonable method and may require acceptance of an updated policy version.
